- Qualification : NVQ Amenity Horticulture Level 1 or Level 2
- Course duration : 12 months
- Days : Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Times : 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm
- Courses start in September and January each year
- Approved by City and Guilds, delivered in partnership with Hackney Community College
- Working with a specialist tutor with considerable experience in garden design and horticulture
- Sites to include; Hoxton Trust Community Garden N1, St. Johns Gardens N1 and Hoxton Square N1
- Learning practicing new skills gained through formal training and work experience
- Gaining a recognised qualification : NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) in Amenity Horticulture Level 1
- Help with basic skills related to the course, making job applications and career guidance
Course content
Unit 1 Demonstrate safe & effective working practices
- Contribute to healthy and safe working practices
- Respond to emergencies
Unit 2 Plant and establish plants
- Prepare the land for planting
- Establish plants
Unit 3 Maintain plants
Unit 4 Maintenance of grass services
Unit 5 Maintain structures and services
Unit 6 Maintain equipment
- Prepare equipment for use
- Clean and maintain equipment after use
