Volunteer policy

The Hoxton Trust was set up by local people to act as a platform from which the local community could more effectively influence and shape the local environment.

In line with this, we continually seek to involve volunteers to:

  • Provide an exchange of skills and perspectives;
  • Engage local people and assist them accessing opportunities;
  • Increase contact with the community we serve;
  • Help us meet the needs of our clients and the local community.

We believe that equiping local people adds value to our work, empowers the local community, helps bring people together and allows for increased ownership of the Trust`s initiatives.

Principles
Volunteers

The volunteer policy of the Hoxton Trust is underpinned by the following principles:

  • To involve and engage volunteers that reflect the diversity
    of our local community;
  • To ensure that volunteers are properly integrated into the organisation;
  • Providing structured induction and ongoing support that encourages feedback;
  • Establishing procedures that ensure volunteers interests are addressed within management processes;
  • We do not aim to introduce volunteers to replace paid staff;
  • We expect that all staff at all levels will work positively with volunteers;
  • The volunteer experience is a two-way process. In return for a volunteers contribution to the work of the Trust, we seek to restore benefits to them, by supporting individuals in their self-determined development aims;
  • We aim to provide a quality training and working experience for all volunteers.
